Your Best Technician Just Retired. Did Their Knowledge retire too?

2.1 million manufacturing jobs could go unfilled by 2030. When senior technicians walk out, decades of institutional knowledge leave with them — unless capture starts while they are still on the floor. Here is the case for capturing expertise with agentic AI, before the exit interview

Every plant I visit has the same person. They have thirty-plus years on the job and they know every machine in the facility like the back of their hand. They are the expert everybody calls for the 2 a.m. emergency. And in every plant, that person is a few short years from retirement.

Here's what I've learned: by the time they give notice, you've missed the window. You just can't capture the expertise built over a 38-year career in an exit interview. Now multiply that person across an entire ecosystem. They're at the OEM that built the machine, the distributor that services it, the component maker three tiers down. Expertise is everywhere and soon it will be gone.

My passion is solving this problem, not just for a single company, but for the entire ecosystem each company supplies and depends on. Your experts may retire. Their expertise doesn't have to.
